Comerica Bank Shred Day DFW 2024

Since launching Shred Day DFW in 2011 with our event partner Iron Mountain, we have helped North Texans securely destroy and recycle over 3.8 million pounds of sensitive paper documents, helping keep that information out of the hands of dumpster divers and local landfills.

In the process, our generous guests have helped us raise over $150,000 and 84,000+ pounds of food for the North Texas Food Bank, which is equivalent to providing more than 518,000 meals for hungry North Texans.

On Saturday, April 13, we’ll be hosting our 12th annual Shred Day DFW at Mercer Business Park, at the northwest corner of I-35E and I-635. The event is free and open to the public, and there is no limit to how much paper you can bring! Consumers and business owners may bring any amount of personal or business paper documents, and we’ll destroy and recycle them securely and efficiently.

There are countless sources of personally identifiable information around the home and office. If there’s ever a doubt, have it professionally shredded. The financial and reputational risk of having an identity stolen is too great to not put in the little bit of extra effort it takes to shred a document. And the peace of mind is priceless.

We look forward to serving you at Shred Day DFW, and to raising your expectations of what a bank can be in the community!

FAQs

You may bring your paper documents to be securely destroyed. You are not required to remove small staples, paper clips, rubber bands and/or small fasteners; however, please find a list of prohibited items below.

Prohibited items include:

  • Paper: telephone books, hardcover books, and wet or damp paper
  • Trash: food waste, bottles, glass, cans, inks, dyes, paints
  • Metals: ring binders, lever arch binders, hanging folders, large bulldog clips, license plates
  • Plastics: plastic bags and packing materials, computer discs, CDs, DVDs, backup tapes, video tapes, transparencies, ID badges, driver's licenses, microfiche, microfilm, X-rays
  • HAZMAT: biochemical waste, sharps, toxic substances, flammables, explosives
  • Hardware: computer, printer or photocopier parts

While we’ll make every effort to destroy the majority of the collected documents on-site with mobile shredding units or live shredding trucks, some of the paper documents will be loaded into secure trucks and transported to Iron Mountain’s nearby shredding plant for secure destruction and recycling. The goal of the event is to process our guests efficiently, and for safety reasons, we encourage all guests to remain in their vehicles.

Anything that contains sensitive information (name, address, Social Security number, account number, etc.) that you no longer need and that you want to keep out of the hands of thieves or “dumpster divers.” These documents could include old utility invoices, bank statements, medical records, credit card offers and old tax documents, just to name a few.

We cannot accept cardboard boxes. If you bring your paper documents in a cardboard box, the Iron Mountain representative will hand the box back to you after emptying its contents into the secure shredding bins.

After Iron Mountain securely destroys your paper documents, the processed materials are then transported to paper mills to be turned into pulp for recycled paper. This destruction process greatly reduces pollution, preserves landfill space and saves trees, water and even oil resources.

At the Mercer Business Park (12121 N. Stemmons Freeway, Dallas, TX 75234) during the hours of 8 a.m. and 3 p.m. There is no limit to how much paper you can bring, and we’ll have special “large load” lanes for trucks, trailers, U-Hauls, etc. The event works like a giant drive-thru, and guests are asked to remain in their vehicles for safety reasons while the Iron Mountain employees remove documents from your vehicle.

Yes, volunteers from the Food Bank will be present to collect any donations from our guests.

Comerica employees are not able to accept documents for shredding from customers or other members of the public. Please attend Shred Day to have your sensitive paper documents destroyed for free on Saturday, April 13.

A donation is not required for admission. However, we sure hope you'll consider bringing two nonperishable food items to help support the North Texas Food Bank and our local community.
