Only paper documents can be accepted. Any document that contains sensitive information (name, address, Social Security numbers, account numbers, etc.) that you no longer need and that you want to keep out of the hands of thieves or “dumpster divers” is a good candidate for shredding. These documents could include old utility invoices/receipts, bank statements, medical records, credit card offers and old tax documents, just to name a few.
Prohibited items include:
Comerica partners with Iron Mountain, a trusted information management provider, to securely destroy and recycle your sensitive information.
Please do not bring more than five (5) banker boxes of paper documents to the ShredSite in a single visit. Demand is high, and to better serve all community members with shredding needs, we ask visitors to please respect this limit. If you have a large number of documents to shred, please consider making more frequent visits to ShredSite, or coming to an annual Comerica Shred Day.
The opening on ShredSite bins is approximately 2 inches tall and 16 inches wide. Please consider this when determining which documents to bring.
Comerica ShredSite bins are securely locked, and they are located within a banking center where personnel are present. As a bank, Comerica is responsible for managing sensitive information every day, and we have detailed security protocols in place to protect that information. We partner with Iron Mountain, a leading information security vendor that is trusted across industries, to securely handle the transition and destruction of all documents deposited into the ShredSite bins.
Iron Mountain empties the bins on a weekly basis to help ensure we can accommodate everyone's shredding needs.
Comerica Bank has been named a 2025 Datos Impact Award recipient for advancing the adoption of The Clearing House's On-Behalf-Of (OBO) payments on the RTP(R) network.
