Waran Bhahirethan is vice president and senior economist at Comerica Bank. He primarily analyzes U.S. national and regional economic developments and produces Comerica’s economic forecasts for Texas, California, Florida, Michigan, Arizona, and the Carolinas. Waran joined Comerica in 2022.
Waran has more than a decade of global macroeconomic, financial markets, monetary policy, and fiscal policy experience. Previously, he served as a manager and senior economist at the Government of Manitoba, Canada, where his primary responsibility was forecasting core government revenues of approximately 14 billion Canadian dollars. He was also a member of the forecasting team of the Reserve Bank of New Zealand. Waran’s other notable work experience includes conducting economic and financial market research for European bulge bracket investment banking clients and the World Bank at Amba Research.
Waran holds a master’s degree in economics from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, an MBA in finance from the Rochester Institute of Technology, New York, and bachelor’s degrees in political science and history (modern Europe) from McDaniel College, Maryland.
